Biblical Authority
Joshua 1:8 - This book of the law shall not depart out of they mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
For the Christian, the Word of God is the authority
for our faith and practice. Although we live in the dispensation of grace, the whole cannon of the 66 Books of the Bible is our guide of faith and
practice. Although we do not keep the law in order to be saved, the Ten Commandments are
still important in practicing our Christianity.
Ephesians 2:8 - 10 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, least any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Being a Christian is not a licence to sin and live any old way we desire. The Bible is our guide and when we step out of those guidelines, we will suffer the consequences. Although we are saved we will reap what we sow, we will be judged for our sin.
Galatians 5:13 - For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
The sports world, the business world, and even our government has rules and guidelines. It is high time that Christians got back to walking in the light of the Word of God that we might enjoy the fruitful success of the Christian life. The grace of God is in no way a permission to live in sin.
Galatians 5:24 - 24 - And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
The Bible is the Guide Book for living a holy life in Christ Jesus for every Born-again believer!
