Biblical Authority

Joshua 1:8 - This book of the law shall not depart out of they mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

For the Christian, the Word of God is the authority
for our faith and practice.  Although we live in the dispensation of grace, the whole cannon of the 66 Books of the Bible is our guide of faith and
practice.  Although we do not keep the law in order to be saved, the Ten Commandments are
still important in practicing our Christianity.

Ephesians 2:8 - 10 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God:  Not of works, least any man should boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Being a Christian is not a licence to sin and live any old way we desire.  The Bible is our guide and when we step out of those guidelines, we will suffer the consequences.  Although we are saved we will reap what we sow, we will be judged for our sin.

Galatians 5:13 - For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

The sports world, the business world, and even our government has rules and guidelines.  It is high time that Christians got back to walking in the light of the Word of God that we might enjoy the fruitful success of the Christian life.  The grace of God is in no way a permission to live in sin.

Galatians 5:24 - 24 - And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

The Bible is the Guide Book for living a holy life in Christ Jesus for every Born-again believer!

THE WORD OF GOD

Consider for a moment THE WORD OF GOD?  Isaiah 40:8
"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever."  Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away."  The Bible is the Word of God.  It is the only book, religious or secular, that has survived the ages with a wide degree of respect and influence in matters of morals and religion.  It tells, in a trust-worthy manner, from whence man came, why he is here, and whither he is bound.  The Bible, the Word of God, is the only sacred Book that has unity of plan, purpose, and fulfillment coherently revealed from beginning to end.

Both internal and external evidences indicate that God is the Author of the Bible.  Redemption through Jesus Christ is its theme, and the salvation of lost men and of the world is its purpose.  By reading the Bible men have been made wise.  By believing it message man have been saved, and by following its teachings the highest achievements of human history have been realized.  The Word of God is Holy, it is trustworthy; it is dependable.  David, the man after God's own heart, wrote, "Thy Word is true from the beginning," Psalm 119:160.  Let it be remembered that no man ever followed the teachings of the Bible, the Word of God, and ever expressed regret for it, in the hour of trouble, sickness, or death.

Dr. Albert Garner
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:12
